In the year that king Uzziah died ...

Imagem
"In the year of king Uzziah's death, I saw Jehovah sitting upon a high and lofty throne, and the hem of his garments filled the temple." Isaiah 6: 1 Who was Uzziah? A king who had taken the throne at the age of sixteen, remaining in power until his sixtieth birthday. "Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah." 2nd Chronicles 26: 1 Uzziah did that which was right in the sight of God, so that he prospered greatly, he was marvelously blessed, and his fame went very far. This king was the hope of the nation, which was more concrete in national security. His death must have generated great commotion. At the end of his days Uzziah lived a recluse and a leper because, like King Saul, in an attempt to usurp the prerogatives of the priests, he had entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense at the altar. This act externalized the king's pride and exaltation, vanity, and...

The parable of the lost drachma...

Imagem
"Or, what is the woman who, having ten drachmas and losing one of them, does not light a lamp, sweeps the house and looks carefully until she finds it?" And when he finds it, he gathers his friends and neighbors and says, "I say that in the same way there is joy in the presence of the angels of God for a sinner who repents." Luke 15: 8 Luke 15 is a succession of parables about the grace of God rescuing man from sin. There are three parables: 1- The lost sheep rescued by the shepherd, 2- the lost drachma rescued by the woman and 3-the prodigal son rescued from the world by the love of the father. Jesus is the good shepherd of parable 1, The Holy Spirit of God is the illuminated lamp of parable 2 and God is the loving Father of parable 3, this is a way of interpreting and understanding the work of the Trinity in the salvation of man. In this article we will talk specifically about Parabola 2 (lost drachma), since other studies have already been published on t...

SILENT WAITING

Imagem
"Has it ever struck you that because you have fallen so many times into the spiritual life, God does not want to know you anymore? Is there anything in the world that will separate God from you? Did you forget it? "And he came unto his own, and his own received him not: but as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: they were not born of blood, Nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father. (John 1:11 to 14) The Word became flesh. The Lord Jesus Christ became flesh and dwelt among us. Have you ever been mugged? This question may seem like without much sense. But I've been robbed three times. Assault is an interesting storytelling and dreadful experience. After being mugged, something terrible happens in...

(The first word of Jesus Christ ...)

Imagem
"The text for this message is found in the Gospel according to Luke 23:33 and 34:" When they came to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, as well as to the evildoers, one on the right and one on the left. But Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. Then they divided his garments, and cast lots. " This is the first of the last seven words that Jesus uttered on the cross of Calvary. Imagine the scene with me: Three crosses protrude into the horizon. In the middle is the Lord Jesus; On the right side a thief and on the left side another thief. Jesus died the way he always lived. He came to this world to seek sinners. He lived among them in order to reach them, to forgive them and to transform them. And when the time came to die, he died crucified among them. And you can see Him there in the hour of agony. When a person is about to die, everyone wants to hear what he has to say. Jesus uttered seven words. The first, fourth,...

Appearance and Content

Imagem
"And when they passed by in the morning, they saw that the fig tree had dried up from the roots." (Mark 11:20) Going from Bethany to Jerusalem, Jesus was hungry. Passing through a fig tree covered with very green leaves (appearance), he approached to pick some figs. Seeing, however, the most absolute absence of fruit (content), Jesus "cursed" the fig tree, condemning it to permanent unproductiveness. "The next day, early in the morning, Jesus and the disciples passed by the fig tree and saw that it was dry from the root" (Mark 11:20). The explanation given by Jesus clearly has nothing to do with the fact that a fig tree dries up, because it has no fruit, which could be looked at naturally in an era that was not of harvest ... But, suddenly, He begins To explain about faith capable of changing things. But what would be the relationship between a cursed fig tree and the fruitful life of faith that the Lord expects us to have? Like that f...

Do not Follow Your Heart!

Imagem
If I do not forgive my friend until I feel desire to forgive ... I will never forgive. If I am not kind to my neighbor until I feel at my heart to be kind ... I will never be kind. If I do not pray for the lost until I feel the urge to pray ... I will never pray. If I do not work hard until I feel desire in my heart to be diligent ... I will never be diligent. If I do not serve in the church until I feel like serving ... I will never serve. If I do not approach those who are different from me until I feel in my heart the desire to approach ... I will never approach. If I am not patient with my children until I feel desire to be patient ... I will never be patient. We live in a culture that sends us to follow our hearts. The Lord says, "Obey and your heart will follow." The glory of the Gospel is that God gives us power to do what we do not feel like doing. When it comes to following the Lord, feelings will most often follow obedience. Do n...

Reflections on the Three Temptations of Jesus in the Desert

Imagem
Base Text: Mt 4: 1-11 I want to expound in a succinct way what the Holy Spirit has shed light on my understanding in this biblical passage known to Christians - which concerns the temptations suffered by Jesus in the wilderness by Satan. The first point I would like to emphasize is that none of us are exempt from the temptations of satan, after all he is the temptation itself and this was made clear in the text under analysis since he invested with his devices against the very Son of God, Jesus Christ , The Incarnate Word. However, although we are subject to temptations, we have resources given by God to successfully resist it - the Word of God. Jesus gave us a great proof of this, for all his answers are based on the Word of God. We talk initially about the tempter, now let's talk about how it attacks. We identified in the text that Jesus was fasting and praying for 40 days until he was hungry - here is an important tip - hunger was the point of contact for Satan to ...

THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS

Imagem
II Cor 2: 10-11 "And to whomsoever ye shall forgive, I also; For what I have forgiven, if it be that I have forgiven anything, for your sake I have done it in the presence of Christ, that Satan may have no advantage over us; Because we do not ignore their machinations. " One way to neutralize the action of Satan in our family is through Forgiveness. Paul tells the Church that if we are not to be overcome by satan, WE MUST FORGIVE. Beloved brethren in Christ Jesus, he does not need a wide loophole to have legality, a micro cleft is enough. We men have the responsibility to lead, how can we lead if there is no Forgiveness? When we fail to forgive, perhaps a little misunderstanding, we are giving legality to the destruction of our families. I am not saying that he will touch you, for in I John 5: 18 it says, "We know that everyone who is born of God does not sin; But the one who is born of God saves him, and Maligno does not touch him.
